The Cunty Barbie Cake
Growing up, I lived across the street from a Baskin-Robbins. They had display ice cream cakes for children's parties, and premade ones in the freezer. I wanted one for my birthday SO BADLY. I didn't even care about getting the Lion King or Aladdin designs - I just wanted an ice cream cake for my birthday. But shit, I just wanted an ice cream cake. You know what? I never got one. All these years later, nothing. It's partially because I grew up in a house that didn't go hard on birthdays, but also because those cakes were— and are still— expensive. I recall seeing price tags range from $40-75+ in mid-to-late-1990s money. To you youths out there that can't roll with mental math, that's around $110-155+ in today's money. That's a massive amount of cash. All these years later, I still haven't purchased my ice cream cake.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know Salt & Straw does one for about $75-90, but it isn't the same.
